2020 has been quite a tough year and while some thought that the hardships would be left back in 2020 alone, it seems like a lot are still suffering during this 2021. The situation is still really complicated and although the majority of the world is already easing and things are slowly getting back to the way they were, there are still a lot of places gravely suffering from the pandemic.

Google April Fools' Day

Google operates around the world which is why the company is trying to be sensitive to an international audience. With different countries still badly affected by COVID, it can be seen that the pandemic has not totally been resolved.

For the second time in a row, Business Insider has been able to obtain a certain internal email noting Google won't be creating a series of elaborate as well as occasionally entertaining April Fools pranks this 2021. When asked by Business Insider, Google then confirmed their situation to do so.

2nd year in a row

In an update by the story by The Verge, they also asked for confirmation and were given so by Google. The update noted that Google added more information in their confirmation pointing towards the pandemic as their decision not to celebrate April Fools' Day this 2021.

The confirmation noted that back in 2020, Google made a decision to pause what was known as a longstanding Google tradition of celebrating in the classic April Fools' Day. The decision was made out of respect for those that are really fighting against COVID-19. The statement notes that with a large part of the world still facing some serious challenges, they have decided to pause their traditional jokes this 2021 April Fools' Day.

Countries around the world still suffering

Here are a few other places in the world that are suffering the most: Myanmar, Hong Kong, Philippines, Mexico, India, and more. These places in Asia alone are suffering around the world and not all majorly due to the coronavirus. The United States remains the most affected by COVID while Mexico tails in second place.

The United States has also had its fair share of suffering as well as a lot of iconic things have happened in 2020. Although 2021 hasn't seen something as big as the coronavirus happen, it might be better not to joke about it which is what Google is trying to steer clear from.

With Google's choice to stay out of any April Fools' Day pranks, it can be seen that the company treats this 2021 as a more serious year where jokes shouldn't really be the priority. Google, instead, has its iconic and general design in place this April 1, 2021 which should be enough to signify that they are not participating in this 2021's April Fools' Day at all.
