An Indian tech blog has obtained the 3D renders of what it claims will be the standard iPhone model. The 3D renders revealed a familiar design with a few notable changes, including a smaller notch and a new diagonal rear camera layout.

iPhone 13 rear camera

According to the tech blog MySmartPrice, it received the renders from an unnamed industry sources.

A smaller notch has already been rumored numerous times for the whole iPhone 13 lineup, but this is the first time that the public has heard that the rear cameras may be positioned diagonally on the standard iPhone 13 with a 6.1-inch display.

By comparison, the dual Wide and Ultra Wide lenses on the standard iPhone 12 model are vertically stacked.

It is not clear why the rear cameras might be positioned diagonally on the iPhone 13, or if the design will extend to the iPhone 13 mini.

However, there are several camera-related changes rumored for iPhone 13 models that would perhaps necessitate the change.

At the beginning of this year, the supply chain news website DigiTimes reported that sensor-shift optical image stabilization would be extended to the whole iPhone 13 lineup.

MySmartPrice does not have an established track record when it comes to leaks and renders for upcoming Apple products, so the blog's report should be taken with a grain of salt until it is backed by other reliable sources, especially if the Cupertino-based company makes the announcement itself.

Apple is currently expected to unveil the iPhone 13 lineup on Sep. 4.

Rumored features

According to Tom's Guide, the iPhone 13 is set to offer a 120Hz LTPO display on both Pro models, improved battery life all thanks to a more efficient 5G modem and upgrades to the cameras. That includes a LiDAR sensor on cheaper iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, as well as a new portrait video mode.

As for the design, the only thing that all sources agree on is that the notch is smaller. At least one iPhone 13 model may come with a portless design, according to Tom's Guide, but that has not been confirmed by Apple.

Apple will apparently achieve this notch downsizing by combining the currently separated infrared flood illuminator, sensor and dot projector. which make up the iPhone 12's Face ID unlocking system, into a single module.

With two fewer sensors needed, a much narrower notch on the iPhone 13 may be seen.

Various rumors point towards the iPhone 13 coming in the same four sizes as the iPhone 12: a 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini, a 6.1-inch iPhone 13, a 6-1-inch iPhone 13 Pro and a 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max.

However, the iPhone 12 mini has not sold well as expected. That could mean the iPhone 13 range will only have a trio of handsets, but there are some reports that suggested there will be an iPhone 13 mini.

Regardless, it is expected that the prices to track with the iPhone 12 range, so the phones will cost $699, $799, $999, and $1,099 respectively. Apple tends to keep its pricing for each generation of iPhone close to the one that preceded it.
