If you're looking for a brand-new Android phone that doesn't just perform well but also looks good, you have two great options outside big-name brands: the OnePlus 9 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 11. Here is a head-to-head battle to help you make an informed buying decision, separated into important categories.

Keep in mind, however, that we're talking about the Mi 11 and not the Mi 11 Pro or Mi 11 Ultra. Now that's out of the way, let's begin.

Performance

At the heart of the OnePlus 9 Pro is the powerful and efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 CPU, coupled with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM. The Xiaomi Mi 11 also has the same CPU, but only with 8GB of RAM available, as indicated in a review by Versus.

SHANGHAI, CHINA - MARCH 24: People attend the launching ceremony of the OnePlus 9 series at Oriental Sports Center on March 24, 2021 in Shanghai, China.

Now, this doesn't necessarily mean that the Mi 11 performs worse, because there's so much more to a smartphone's performance than how much memory is in it. And the performance numbers across different benchmarks show this. The Xiaomi Mi 11 actually performed better than the OnePlus 9 Pro in overall benchmark numbers.

Battery Life

A lot of people would assume that a fast smartphone doesn't have great battery life. And most of the time, they'd be right. It's hard to squeeze out a lot of performance from not a lot of power. But both the OnePlus 9 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 11 aren't slouches in terms of battery life.

For the OnePlus phone, you can expect a maximum of 10 hours of battery life. But the Xiaomi handset pales in comparison due to a lot of extra features that are very draining, as stated in a review by TechRadar. Anyone who wants to play a lot of games and watch videos will have to keep a battery bank close at hand.

Design

Both phones impress with their design with eye-catching visuals in their own way. OnePlus, for instance, has always had a reputation for gorgeous, unique-looking phones. And their 9 Pro model doesn't skimp in terms of design. If you like a phone that's sleek and subtle with hints of cutting-edge technology, then it's the phone for you.

As for the Mi 11, it looks much like any modern smartphone. It's long, thin, and very minimalist, especially compared to the 9 Pro. It's the type of phone that would fit well with someone who wants to look good, but doesn't want to stand out too much.

Camera

It would be hard to find a flagship Android phone that has a better camera than the OnePlus 9 Pro. When designing the phone, OnePlus improved so much in terms of making the camera produce natural-looking colors, which are more akin to what you'd see on an iPhone or a Google Pixel. Not even any Samsung Galaxy handset (like the Galaxy 21) can hold a candle to the 9 Pro's camera. Aside from that, the camera UI has also been reworked for a more streamlined operation.

The Mi 11's camera, on the other hand, works better in well-lit places than in low-light ones. If you try to take a photo with not enough light, the image turns out to be a little bit noisy. Though if you compare the camera with that of a Mi 10, the Mi 11's does have a lighter tone and an improved contrast.

Final Thoughts

So, which one is the right phone for you? At the end of the day, only you can really answer that. The OnePlus 9 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi11 are phones that fit certain lifestyles. Make sure you pick whichever you feel best suits yours, and either smartphone will be a great buy.
