For those who might think that $800 would be a steep price for an OLED laptop, there's actually one in the market that would make sense. The new ASUS OLED laptop will definitely provide quite the significant specs for the Zenbook 13.

ASUS Zenbook 13 Budget Laptop

There are reportedly early reviews from PCMag and Digital Trends and are already saying that the ASUS Zenbook 13 could be the best budget laptop for budget buyers. The downside that some people have been complaining about is the headphone jack as well as the cramped keyboard; according to UltraBookReview, the specs reportedly make up for it.

According to The Verge, in addition to the Zenbook 13's 13-inch 1080p OLED screen, which is one of the first 1080p OLED on a laptop, if has a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut which can be configured up with either the Intel Core i7 or maybe an AMD Ryzen 7 processors that could be packed with 16GB of storage and even 8GB of RAM.

Intel and AMD Zenbook 13 Options

Even at the base starting price of $800, the buyers can choose between the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U or an Intel Core i5-1135G7 chip. The Zenbook 13 also included a backlit keyboard, a new Windows Hello ready IR camera, USB-A ports, and full-size HDMI 2.0, along with a pair of USB-C ports and even a slot for a microSD card.

According to the company's spec sheet, there are actually a number of notable differences between both the Intel and AMD models:

  • Intel would reportedly start with quite a measly 256GB of storage at the given $800 mark instead of the 512GB for the AMD version.

  • The company quotes three additional hours of battery life for users that choose the AMD system over the Intel system. It is important to note that they were both measured at quite a fairly dim 150 nits of brightness. This comes from the same 67Wh battery.

  • With Intel, users will be getting a pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports instead of the previous USB 3.2 Type-C ports.

  • AMD models reportedly only have the Wi-Fi 5, while Intel reportedly gets the Wi-Fi 6.

The Verge notes that they've reportedly heard screen manufacturers were now finally going to mass-produce the reported laptop-sized OLED panels some time this year. It could then be that the ASUS laptops are actually just the tip of the iceberg. The ASUS Zenbook 13 could be the first of many upcoming laptops with OLED screens.
