CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA - SEPTEMBER 10: The new Apple Watch Series 5 is displayed during a special event on September 10, 2019 in the Steve Jobs Theater on Apple's Cupertino, California campus. Apple unveiled several new products including an iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, Apple Watch Series 5 and seventh-generation iPad.

As smart wearables continue to develop with new innovative features, more consumers are purchasing their own. The device on people's wrists has evolved from being a mere timepiece. Now, tons of health features flood the smartwatches. Other smartphone-integrated features are available as well.

In precise numbers, the total shipment of smartwatches has increased by 35% year on year from 2020 to 2021.

Apple Stays on Top

Again, Apple has lead and captured 33.5% of the existing wearable market, Counterpoint Research reported. In terms of growth, on the other hand, the company has amassed a 50% increase. The continued rise is attributed to the Watch Series 6 that has been met with increasing demand from consumers.

Separately, there are Apple Watch Series 7 Leaks already. It suggests a new flat-edged design, and more colors to choose from. Reports also say that the launch of the next version of the Apple Watch is at the September event of the Cupertino company.

According to Wired, Apple Watch has been on the top of the market share since it was launched in 2015. Other brands have never come close to the iPhone maker.

Huawei Lags Behind Apple

The China-based giant still holds at least 8.4% of the smartwatch market. It has continued to lose its share of the market from 10.1% of last year.

However, it is interesting how the new HarmonyOS of Huawei, which seeks to replace Google's Android, will change these numbers, GizmoChina reported.

NEW YORK, NY - AUGUST 7: The new Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is displayed during a launch event at Barclays Center on August 7, 2019 in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus smartphones, which go on sale August 23 starting at $949.

Samsung at the Third Spot

Samsung is still in the third spot with 8% of the market. Similar to Huawei, the South Korean conglomerate lost a small share of the market. In 2020, the Galaxy Watch maker holds an 8.5% share.

The recent partnership with Google, however, could alter these numbers in the future. The Galaxy Watch will now be equipped with Wear, as Samsung's Tizen has merged with Wear OS.

It seems that Huawei and Samsung are both working hard to finally trample the king of smartwatches.
