"Ratchet & Clank" has one of the PlayStation platform's most iconic game franchises, and it looks like the latest installment, Rift Apart, is reaping a lot of love from critics and fans alike.

Ahead of its official launch on June 11, reviews from major game publications have popped up. GameSpot, one of the biggest in the business, gave the new "Ratchet & Clank" game an excellent 9/10. But what do others say about the brand-new Sony PlayStation 5 exclusive?

'Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart' is A Stunner - IGN

IGN gave "Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart" a 9 out of 10 as well, mostly praising the game's technical prowess and lack of shyness in depicting its "saving the universe" angle from the get-go.

One of the biggest improvements, according to IGN is the game's excellent, intuitive gameplay mix of third-person gunplay and platforming is easy to understand, even for beginners. Also, despite the graphics being stylized in a way, the review claimed that the new "Ratchet & Clank" is one of the prettiest Sony PlayStation 5 games ever, which is, of course, due to the powerful hardware of the next-gen console.

A True PS5 Showcase - The Verge

Let's face it: it's extremely tough to secure the latest Sony PlayStation console. We'd even go as far to say it's impossible to get one right now, even with all the PlayStation 5 restocks out there.

But if you do manage to get one, then Insomniac Games' first "Ratchet" adventure in five years is a true showcase of the PS5's capabilities, according to The Verge. While the game doesn't stray too much from its tried and tested formula, it was praised for taking every element and bringing it to a whole new level.

'Just a Joy To Play' - Game Informer

The 'Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart' review from Game Informer didn't mince words, and that's a good thing on its own. Reviewer Andrew Reiner praised the game for being a so-called PS5 showpiece: ticking all the boxes in terms of visuals, gameplay mechanics, and overall feel.

Game Informer gave the new Sony PlayStation exclusive a solid 9 out of 10, citing a lot of the PS5's tech as among the biggest contributors to the entire experience. It's a true showcase of the DualSense controller's capabilities, where gamers feel every click of the main characters' triggers. The game's replay value is also stated as "moderately high," meaning you'll get hours upon hours of honest-to-goodness fun from a single purchase.

'The Best PlayStation 5 Game Yet' - VentureBeat

VentureBeat's review also didn't hold back on 'Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart,' considering it as the best game on Sony's current-gen console in their review. They gave the game a perfect 5 out of 5, likening it to generation-defining games like Microsoft's "Halo" or "Nintendo's Super Mario 64"; further claiming that like those two examples, "Rift Apart" will be the standard by which current-generation games are judged.

The review mainly gushed about the title's graphics, which they claim ran with the fluidity of a Hollywood animation. Now that is a bold claim, but not without substance: the PS5's hardware is capable of insane levels of graphical fidelity previously inaccessible to previous-gen systems. With ray tracing, high resolutions, and silky-smooth frame rates, "Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart's" graphics are just a cherry on top of what the game's story offers.
