Newegg just introduced a new PC building service, and it might be the only way to buy parts that would be out of stock anywhere else.

The report was first broken out by Tom's Hardware, who says that Newegg calls the new service ENIAC, naming it after the first programmable computer. It differs from a fair number of other computer building services, though, since Newegg can lock out anybody from buying the most sought-after parts if they're not buying through ENIAC.

Newegg ENIAC is their second service of its kind after launching their first one back in August of last year. But that one is way different since it works more like another website: PCPartPicker. The original service only allows people to select compatible components, which buyers will then have to build on their own.

With ENIAC, Newegg is offering a made-to-order service that will deliver a fully functional, custom system to a buyer's doorstep within 7-10 business days. Furthermore, buyers will also have access to Newegg's entire inventory, which is much bigger than other boutique builders like iBuyPower or Origin.

According to the official ENIAC website, Newegg has the capacity to build over 1,000 PCs a day, with over 50 technicians on hand and a 98% production yield rate. And unlike competing PC building services, it also looks like ENIAC will offer a truly custom experience with intermediate case modding options like engraving.

Newegg Custom PC Building Service: Coming at a Perfect Time?

Perhaps Newegg is offering ENIAC at the best time possible, and there are multiple reasons as to why that is.

Even if GPU price drops are becoming more constant for the past few weeks, the truth is still the same: the latest graphics cards are still quite overpriced. Even Newegg is guilty of marking up the prices on several of the most sought-after PC components, but that's not their fault. That's just how the law of supply and demand works.

As a result, it's not wise to go out and build a computer on your own these days. Going for a prebuilt gaming PC makes the most financial sense right now since boutique builders usually get the most sought-after parts for close to MSRP. This means that the overall cost of the entire rig will not be as inflated, and you'll save money given the current market conditions.

A Prebuilt Gaming PC Is Better, At Least for Now

There's a good sense of fun and accomplishment if you build your own gaming PC. But there are also massive headaches, especially if it's only your first time building one. This is where opting for a PC building service like that of Newegg comes in: you pick the parts, they'll assemble it for you, and deliver the system to your doorstep, ready to use. All you need to do is plug it in and game.

Now that's convenience at its best, more so in this day and age of overpriced computer components.
