"Ghostwire: Tokyo," from the Japanese game studio Tango Gameworks, has released an official statement that the release of the video game will be moved to early 2022.

Ghostwire: Tokyo Delayed Release Date

According to the statement that Tango Gameworks posted on its official Twitter account, the company wants to protect the health of its employees.

The game developer will also take this extension as a chance to do some enhancements on the PS5 exclusive game before it gets released next year.

Tango Gameworks added that it would show snippets and spoilers of "Ghostwire: Tokyo" in the next couple of months, according to Polygon. 

"Ghostwire: Tokyo" was announced by game publisher Bethesda Softworks during the E3 press event in 2019.

The paranormal action game got attention for its developer pedigree and due to the involvement of creative director Ikumi Nakamura, who captured, who captured the interest of fans thanks to his on-stage presence.

"Ghostwire: Tokyo" is a limited PlayStation 5 exclusive that is also scheduled to be released on Windows PC, according to GameRant.

Everything That We Know So Far About the Game

Tango Gameworks was founded in 2010 by Shinji Mikami, who previously worked at Capcom. The team released "The Evil Within" in 2014, followed by "The Evil Within 2" in 2017 through its parent company Bethesda Softworks, which is now officially owned by Microsoft.

Tango Gameworks is known for creating titles with paranormal themes and game moments consisting of jump scares.

While "The Evil Within" franchise was a third-person experience, "Ghostwire: Tokyo" will be from the players' perspective, and it will focus on the abilities of paranormal and psychic abilities, which is similar to the game "Control" released in 2019.

However, Tango Gameworks' latest game will be entirely different to anything that fans have seen in years, as the players will need to find and defeat ghosts and spirits around the city of Tokyo.

The trailer for the game was released in June 2020, together with a mysterious voiceover and brief gameplay. Fans of the game can view the full footage through the official YouTube channel of PlayStation.

Although the release date for PS5 has been pushed back, fans can pre-order their copy of "Ghostwire: Tokyo." It is being offered at GAME for $70 on PS4 and PC, according to GiveMeSport. 

PS5 Exclusive You Can Play in 2021

Thankfully, other PS5 games are scheduled for release this year. "Hades" will be released on Aug. 13, "Kena: Bridge of Spirits" will be released on Aug.14, "LiS: True Colors" is scheduled for Sept. 10, "Deathloop" is scheduled for Sept.14, "Rainbow Six Extraction" will be released on Sept. 16, and "Diablo 2 Resurrected" is scheduled for release on Sept. 23.

For the last three months of 2021, a couple of other anticipated games will be launched on PS5.

"Far Cry 6" is set for Oct. 7, "Back 4 Blood" is scheduled for Oct. 12, "Battlefield 2042" is set for Oct. 22, and "Guardian of the Galaxy" is scheduled for release on Oct. 26.

"GTA 5" is set for Nov. 11, "GTA Online" is scheduled for Nov. 11, "Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker" is scheduled for Nov. 23, and "Dying Light 2" will be released on Dec. 7.
