Brittney Nance holds her head as she works on her laptop in her motel room at the Old Town Inn March 5, 2009 in West Sacramento, California. Brittney and her family were evicted from the house they were renting after her husband, Steve Nance, lost his job. The couple and their three children are living in a budget motel.

This is currently an important improvement when it comes to managing an organization or company, especially since the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic is increasing people's depression and other mental illnesses.

"When the CEO responds to your out of the office email about taking sick leave for mental health and reaffirms your decision," said Madalyn Parker, the viral employee.

On the other hand, the staff did not disclose her company's name, but she included the name of her boss, Ben Congleton.

As of the moment, Parker said that she is suffering from her depression. Because of this, she asked her boss if she can use her sick leaves to regain her mental health.

"My depression stops me from being productive at my job the same way a broken hand would slow me down since I wouldn't be able to type properly," she explained to her CEO through email.

Viral Twitter's Commentators Also Criticized the Post

Right now, the viral Twitter post was able to generate more than 14,000 likes, 1,800 quote tweets, and 41,000 comments. On the screenshot, the CEO said that Parker is the best example that people should use their sick leaves to improve their mental health as well.

He added that mental health is just as important as people's physical wellness. Congleton also called out other bosses to allow their employees to use their sick leaves when their depression and other similar illnesses are attacking them.

The employee's boss reiterated that all companies should make this a habit to break the stigma and help employees be at their best mental status. However, the post was still criticized by other commentators.

According to Up Worthy's latest report, some of the Twitter users in the comment section said that companies should not make their employees use their sick leaves.

They added that depression and other mental illnesses should be different types of leave. On the other hand, others claim that vacation leave is also a great option if your mental health is getting worst.

But, most of the commentators were still amazed by the CEO's response regarding his employee's mental health status. They even said that they wish they have a boss like him.
