Monkeypox 'Possible Outbreak' Signs Now an Alarming Issue in the United States

Monkeypox is now being given attention by the US health officials that are watching for signs of a possible outbreak, according to a report.

This is while the new coronavirus delta variant, as well as other coronavirus-related news, is getting renewed attention.

CDC is Monitoring 200 Individuals

According to the story by Fox News, following an initial report of a certain patient that is now being treated for monkeypox over in Texas after just arriving there coming from Nigeria early this July, officials from the CDC are currently monitoring over 200 people that might have been in contact with that particular traveler. This was according to the reports of WVLA-TV of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The individuals that are currently being observed are reportedly spread across 27 different states as well as several foreign countries, according to the report.

They reportedly range from the associates of the patient to the patient's fellow passengers on the flight.

Monkeypox Symptoms

As of the moment, none of the people that are being tracked are considered to be high risk, and none of them have reportedly been found to have monkeypox, the report stated.

Prior to the official landing in Dallas on July 9, 2021, where the patient was then later on hospitalized, the traveler decided to make a stop in Atlanta.

At the exact moment, there are reportedly no safe treatments that are available for monkeypox, according to the CDC. Symptoms of illness would include headache, fever, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, backaches, chills, exhaustion, or even a skin rash that would develop a few days after a fever.

Monkeypox was originally detected in humans in Africa back in 1970, according to the official CDC website. It was last detected in the United States last 2003, with 47 cases found.

The health agency issued a number of guidelines to be followed in order to prevent the infection of the monkeypox virus.

With the new health scare, the COVID-19 vaccine is being recommended more than ever as the delta variant is growing.

Individuals should avoid contact with animals that could potentially harbor the virus. This includes animals that are sick, or might have been found dead in areas where there are occurance of monkeypox.
Individuals should avoid contact with any materials like beddings, that have also been in contact with a sick animal.
The infected patients should be isolated from others who could be at risk for possible infection.
Individuals should practice good hygiene after having been in contact with infected animals or humans. An example of this is washing hands with soap and water or maybe using alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
Individuals should wear PPE or personal protective equipment when caring directly for patients.
