Valve has said that Steam Deck can run all games that they have tested. All of the titles are said to be playable, and developers have not found issues with handling games on the device.

Shaping to Be A Portable Powerhouse

Pierre-Loup Griffals, a Valve developer, explained on a video first showcased by IGN that the Steam Deck is the first among its kind to successfully run all games within Steam's expansive library without issue.

"This is the first time we've achieved the level of performance that is required to really run the latest generation of games without problems," the company noted.

Its previous prototypes have not been as successful, and some games weren't playable during testing.

Griffals mentioned that all the games they wanted to test were all playable. In facet, the entire Steam library is.

"We haven't really found something we could throw at this device that it couldn't handle," Griffals said.

What You Expect From Steam Deck

Given the impressive statement from the interview, expect that the developers within Valve can run almost all triple AAA titles currently on the market. With the help of PC games that utilize high-resolution gaming with boosted frame rates, Valve decided to scale down the games to run on its device with a good 30 FPS and 800p.

As a bonus since many people have complained about the Big Picture Mode, Steam Deck will instead be having its very own Steam Deck UI to fit the console's aesthetic better.

If that is getting you excited, you might want to hold off a little as it won't let you play more popular games like "Destiny 2" and "Apex Legends," according to a report by GamesRadar

The report pointed out that Steam Deck's operating system is based on Linux, and would need an anti-cheat software system the console doesn't currently have nor support.

Continuous Improvements

Valve has promised to look for new upgrades and improvements towards the Steam Deck OS in response to the device not playing all the games within its library before its launch later this year.

It would be interesting to see how Steam Deck would change the market for popular streamers as they can now bring their Steam Deck's and play their favorite shooters and games while on the go compared to staying in one spot.

The price is said to cost $399 as pre-orders are already open to the public.

However, scalpers have already made their move by selling the console for $2000-$5000 before its December 2021 release.
