GIGABYTE AORUS RTX 3090 Gaming Box restock spotted online! With the global chip shortage, prices of GPUs have been skyrocketing! A certain NVIDIA RTX 3090 Gaming Box was spotted out in the wild selling for $2,449! This is almost $1,000 more than its SRP.

NVIDIA RTX 3090 SRP

According to TechRadar, the original NVIDIA RTX 3090 SRP is supposed to cost just $1,499 which is almost $1,000 less than the price it is selling at now. The prices of GPUs have skyrocketed due to a number of reasons.

The first reason why the NVIDIA RTX 3090 price went up is because of the global chip shortage. As of the moment, not only NVIDIA is suffering from the shortage. Even NVIDIA's close competitor, AMD, is also having a hard time dealing with the global chip shortage as well.

GPU vs CPU Prices

Although the prices of CPUs seem to be improving as a couple of chips were spotted selling at their SRP, when it comes to GPUs, however, the situation is still quite chaotic. Another reason for prices of GPUs being ramped up, aside from the lack of chip supply to manufacture them, is because of scalpers.

Scalpers have been affecting the market by buying out any available in-demand CPU or GPU and selling them at marked up prices. Scalpers have been buying up key products like the PS5 restock and Xbox Series X restock making it harder and harder for gamers to purchase at its original price.

Scalpers Buy Up in Demand Items

Scalpers have reportedly been using bots to purchase different consoles and precious PC parts online, according to Bloomberg. With the PS5 restock and Xbox Series X restock being extremely hard to purchase, buyers that don't want to pay scalper prices are following restock tracker accounts to increase their chances.

Restock accounts give notification when new stock hits online retailers. Buyers will then have to place their orders as fast as they can and compete against not just scalpers but other buyers as well.

Demand for GPUs Online

When it comes to GPUs, however, there is another massive competition for most gaming buyers. Since crypto has become more popular in recent days, more and more miners have started popping up.

In order to mine cryptocurrency, however, most mining rigs need high powered GPUs. Due to the heightened demand in GPUs especially for mining, gamers are met with another hindrance in purchasing GPU consoles.

RTX 3090 Spotted at Scalper Prices

Although there might have been a slight improvement in GPU prices, buying a GPU at SRP is still extremely hard. This is especially true for the NVIDIA RTX 3090 Gaming Box which was spotted by a restock tracker.

The GPU was selling for almost $1,000 more than its SRP. While other GPU models might have been improving in prices, the NVIDIA RTX 3090 is still very expensive as of the moment.
