Solidifying Its Foundation Toward Greater Company Growth

First, the tech startup receives strategic investment from Wipro Ventures, the venture capital firm and the strategic investment arm of Indian IT giant Wipro. Functionize announces that the latest financial support will be going to the improvement of its flagship proprietary AI technology, which has begun to revolutionize the test automation process for web applications. The latest Wipro Ventures investment follows Functionize's $16 million Series A funding round back in 2019, which was led by Gary Little. Wipro Ventures soon joined the host of Functionize investors, together with Crosspoint Capital Partners founder John Mumford, and more.

"Today marks a major milestone for us as a company. When Functionize was founded five years ago, we set out to revolutionize test automation by applying machine learning and AI to existing time-consuming and manual processes," says Functionize founder Tamas Cser. He adds that the new investment from Wipro Ventures is a further validation of the company's direction as a pioneer in the new industrial revolution.

The new investment comes as the company appoints its new CEO, Gary Messiana. Tamas Cser will transition to the role of CTO in order to focus more on his passion for further developing and advancing their flagship platform.

An industry veteran, Messiana has previous held a range of entrepreneurial and executive positions guiding tech startups toward market growth. Prior to joining Functionize, Gary Messiana previously served as the CEO for Mesh7, an IT company based in California that offers the cloud-native API Security Mesh. He has also served as CEO for Nominum and Netli.

"Functionize improves the quality, lowers the cost and speeds up the process of delivering applications to fuel digital transformation, revenue and customer satisfaction growth," the newly-appointed CEO Gary Messiana said. He adds his new role in the company offers him an opportunity to join an "innovative organization that is already transforming the amount of time and cost spent in testing," adding that he's looking forward to taking the helm in guiding the company to realize its vision of revolutionizing software testing across the world — making it "more accurate, faster, and less expensive."
