Watching One's Diet is a part of this generation's lifestyle, and it might be a massive help especially as researchers discovered that 70 percent of what teens in the US eat are "Ultraprocessed Foods." The study has found that most teens get their daily calorie needs from these types of food, which may be something that would cause comorbidities in the coming years.

A study almost six years ago shows that children or the current generation get 12 percent of their calories from fast food. However, the recent study shows a massive jump from the then 12 percent to the now 70 percent.

Experts fear that if this continues, it may lead to a shorter lifespan or diseases that may soon develop.

According to a study by Lu Wang Ph.D. and the research team, trends in the current generation are that most US teens and children receive 70 percent of their calorie intake from "Ultraprocesssed Foods."

The study entitled "Trends in Consumption of Ultraprocessed Foods Among US Youths Aged 2-19 Years, 1999-2018," has observed the different choices and habits of teens when eating. Most of their choice leads to consuming the so-called ultra-processed foods, which are known to have more sugar and salt in them, compared to vitamins, minerals, or nutrients.

This comes as an eye-opener for everyone, as it could have serious repercussions in the coming years, especially as they enter adulthood or age of maturity. The human body can only take so much, especially with the way food is made now, comorbidities may soon be a problem that people would face.

What are Ultraprocessed Foods?

According to Harvard Health, Ultraprocessed Foods are the type of meals that have been made with different components, which is entirely different from their source. Processed food are natural changes in food preparation, as some components stay, while some are lost.

Ultra-processed is those which use more of the said "process" that removes the important components and then using substitutes. These include sugar, salt, fat, starch, hydrogenated sugars, and more.

Some of these are unnatural and the more processed ingredients are included, the less there is that the body would gain for the nutrient it needs to build cells or replenish them.

Also, it would risk morbid diseases such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, kidney failures, and other deadly diseases that stay or would be carried for a lifetime.
