Samsung Pay: How to Store Your Vaccination Card

Samsung Galaxy smartphone users can now easily show proof that they've been vaccinated. The tech giant has teamed up with The Commons Project, a health care nonprofit, to store a user's immunization status safely within the Samsung Pay feature.

By downloading your status on Samsung Pay, you can easily get access to public places such as restaurants and bars. Plus, you can safely store your card without the risk of misplacing it.

Samsung Pay to Store Vaccination Cards

After downloading the CommonHealth app, you will need to go through the authentication steps and present a valid government ID, according to HowtoGeek.

Once you are verified, you can download your immunization record in the app. You will then be given an option to add it to your Samsung Pay account.

Once the proof of vaccination is on your phone, you can easily show the digital version at establishments that require proof of vaccination. It can also be shared via a QR code, according to Global Newsroom.

The feature will be available on Aug. 22 for all Galaxy phone users. That will include Galaxy phones that were released in 2015. Samsung Pay can also be accessed on Samsung smartwatches and the newly released Galaxy Z.

Samsung Pay can also be used in Gear 3 smartwatches.

Companies Delaying Return to Office

The United States reopened its economy in the late spring, but the sudden increase of the delta variant is now causing some establishments to change plans to prevent the spread of infections.

Apple and Google have decided to delay their return to the office, and a lot of companies now require their employees to be vaccinated.

Face masks are once again required to be work indoors, and cities like San Francisco and New York require residents and visitors to show their proof of vaccination to enter bars, restaurants, gyms, and other businesses, according to USA Today.

The vaccination cards are given to fully vaccinated Americans that are flimsy and are sized for wallets. Most people prefer to carry a picture of the card or have access to it through phone verification. That is where Samsung's push comes in.

Storing the card in Samsung Pay should give you faster access to your records. Samsung first introduced Samsung Pay in 2015.

The idea of the feature was to give users a better option of paying for items by waving their device near a store's checkout register instead of giving their credit card to the cashier.

Samsung Pay also gave users the ability to add their loyalty cards, get cash backs for making purchases and by allowing them to take advantage of promotions.

In 2020, Samsung launched its very own debit card with Mastercard and SoFi.

As for the Commons Project, it is a verified and secure way for people to store their proof of vaccination. Other health apps that provide the same feature include Clear and Excelsior Pass.

How to Add the Vaccination Records to Your Samsung Pay Account

First, download the CommonHealth app, which is available on the Google Play store. Simply follow the directions to verify your COVID-19 vaccine record.

Once you have access to the record in the health app, tap on the "Add to Samsung Pay" option. Open Samsung Pay and select "COVID-19 Vaccine Pass" so you can store it.
