Everyone knows how it is all the more important these days to keep fit and healthy. However, that can be easier said than done.

Not everyone likes to go to the gym to sweat it out for hours and hours each day. Not everyone is into sports either. While running, biking, and doing aerobic exercises like jump rope at home sounds simple enough to do, they are not everyone's cup of tea.

So if you're not into sports or going to the gym or doing any other seemingly difficult form of exercise, here's something you can still do to keep fit: walk. Walking is actually a great form of exercise, though we don't mean walking from your bed to the fridge. Walking also has some great health benefits too.

If you're up for walking longer distances as a form of exercise, here are some walking apps you can download that will help you keep fit.

The walking app also allows you to upload and save workout data, load a saved walking route, and even share walking routes with friends.

Walking Apps to Download: Argus by Azumio

This walking app developed by Azumio is pretty much a calorie tracking tool that measures your heart rate and the time and distance you covered during your walk, according to an article by Verywell Fit

Once you finish your walk, Argus shows you "your workout calories, steps, elevation gain, best pace, average pace, average cadence, graphs, and map." If you're particular about your daily step count, the app actually updates your daily count through your phone's motion sensor data.

It also includes active time, distance, calories, steps, and an hourly graph. The app can also be linked to a heart rate sensor band if you are using one.

The Argus by Azumio app is available for both iOS and Android.

Walking Apps to Download: Fitbit

Before you start worrying that the Fitbit app requires a Fitbit watch before you can use it, that is actually not the case. All you have to do is select "no Fitbit yet" when you set up the app.

This walking app tracks your daily steps, the distance you covered, and your heart rate as well. According to the article by the BFH, you are able to "review your route, distance, time, pace, mile split times, calories burned, and steps."

If you have friends who also have the Fitbit app, you can also challenge each other to go on virtual adventure races.

The Fitbit app is available for both iOS and Android.
