2021, without a doubt, is the year of NFTs, thanks to a boom in demand and supply for these digital collectibles. Thanks to the growing popularity of NFTs, even celebrities, athletes, and brands joined in on the hype. Fashion and beauty brands are no exception to this.

A couple of fashion and beauty brands have released their own NFTs in the last few months, and if you happen to be a fan of fashion, beauty, and NFTs all at the same time, they are definitely worth checking out.

To give you an idea of the fashion and beauty brands that have given NFTs a shot, these include Dolce & Gabbana, e.l.f. Cosmetics, and Louis Vuitton.

What are NFTs?

But before we get to any of those, what exactly is an NFT, to begin with?

NFT is an acronym for non-fungible tokens. The Economist has defined an NFT as "a record on a cryptocurrency's blockchain (an immutable ledger that can record more than just virtual coins) that represents pieces of digital media."

Given the definition of non-fungible, these digital assets are unique and cannot be traded or exchanged for something of equal value.

NFTs these days can come in the form of digital art, music, movie scenes, GIFs, and other collectibles.

Beauty NFTs

As previously mentioned, popular brands have joined in on the NFT hype. Among these brands are popular beauty brands that took inspiration in their products to create their NFTs. Here are examples of brands that created beauty NFTs:

e.l.f. Cosmetics

e.l.f. Cosmetics released its own NFTs in July. According to the website of Bitski, where the cosmetics company sold the nine NFTs, the collection is called "Dipped in Gold #CryptoCosmetics Collection."

NARS Cosmetics

In August, NARS Cosmetics partnered with Truesy, an online marketplace, and released NFT collectibles inspired by the brand's "Orgasm" product line. The NFTs were created by three artists that NARS Cosmetics commissioned.

Fashion NFTs

Some of the world's most well-known fashion houses and brands have likewise released their own NFTs. There's a variety in the brands that gave NFTs a try, including brands considered high fashion. Here are some of them:

Dolce & Gabbana

Similarly to e.l.f. Cosmetics, Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana released its NFT collection in July. The NFT collection was named "DGGenesi." The NFT collection took inspiration from high fashion, otherwise known as "alta moda" in Italian.

RTFKT

If you never imagined that a pair of sneakers could be turned into NFTs, RTKFT is about to prove you wrong. The brand partnered with popular NFT artist FEWOCiOUS to create a digital sneaker that was sold as a fashion NFT. The actual sneakers were even given to the owners of the NFTs.
