"Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition" launched recently, and it suffices to say that Rockstar Games didn't want a reception like the one it had.

That's because the much-anticipated "Grand Theft Auto" trilogy remaster is plagued with so many technical problems. Glitches, frame rate hitches, and just overall instability is plaguing the relaunch across all supported platforms, and it's got fans livid.

Players all around the world are complaining mostly about the "GTA" remaster's graphics, and how it mostly didn't live up to expectations.

Many people have flocked to social media to post screenshots of the remaster's awkward-looking NPCs:

These sub-par graphics are apparently a result of Rockstar Games' use of AI software to improve most of the visuals, writes CNET. And while the quality did improve across certain areas and characters, the AI seems to have skimped on other assets in the game world.

PC Version Is No Better

Some people might assume that due to the inherent power of gaming PCs, the new "Grand Theft Auto" trilogy remaster would run well on it, right?

Well, not really.

The PC version of the "GTA" remaster is absolutely no better off than consoles. Problems got so bad that the entire three-game package wasn't even playable for two days, as it was removed from the Rockstar Games launcher only a day after its release.

Rockstar Games had to put everything on hold because apparently, they had to take out some files containing unlicensed music, as well as the code for an infamous mini game in "GTA San Andreas" called "Hot Coffee." As of this writing, the PC version is back online:

Nintendo Switch Version Is Allegedly the WORST

If you didn't know, "Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition" also released on Nintendo's most popular handheld, and it's apparently the absolute worst port out there.

Performance on the Nintendo Switch is so horrendous that reviewers are not holding back. As such, it is reported that the "Grand Theft Auto" remaster's outing on the handheld might result in the worst-ever user review score for a Switch game on Metacritic, writes NintendoLife.com.

The review score? A lowly 0.5 out of 10. The only thing lower is the remaster's Xbox One version, which stands at 0.4 out of 10.

'Grand Theft Auto' Fans Demand Justice

Long-time fans of the "Grand Theft Auto" series, mostly those who grew up playing the original games, are now demanding refunds from Rockstar. The only problem is that people can't get the refunds in the first place.

Another problem Rockstar has to deal with concerns its parent company Take-Two Interactive. With the widespread poor reception of the remaster, Take-Two's stock has also experienced a massive price drop, reports GameRant.

This just goes to show that if you piss off your consumers with a bad product, the investors will follow.

Is This One of the Most Disastrous Game Launches in History?

With how things have unfolded so far, one can argue that the troubled launch of the "Grand Theft Auto" trilogy remaster is among the biggest. It could be right up there with the likes of "Assassin's Creed Unity," "Fallout 76," "No Man's Sky," and even "Cyberpunk 2077."

Many of these games, however, have improved over time and gained new fans years after their launch debacle (i.e. "AC Unity" and "No Man's Sky.") As such, it could be something that the "GTA" trilogy remaster could undergo. But until then, Rockstar and Take-Two will have to perform a lot of damage control.
