According to the online article by How-to Geek, the Google Translate scanning feature provides a translation of words by simply pointing to the camera.
The Google Translate app's feature is available on multiple platforms, such as iOS for iPhone users, iPadOS for Apple Tablet users, and Android devices.
As per the support page of Google, the Translate app could translate printed or handwritten words using your smartphone camera.
How to Translate Words by Taking Photos Using Google Translate
Without any further ado, here's how to translate foreign words by simply taking photos using the mobile app of Google Translate.
It is worth noting that you will be required to give the Google app permission to access your cameras, as well as your photo library or camera roll.
- Open the Google Translate app from your mobile device.
- Then, tap the Camera icon found below the "Tap to enter text" box.
- After which, the app should open your camera.
- Change the languages of your choice on top of the screen.
- Then, on the lower-left corner of the app, select Instant.
- Next, point the camera towards the word that you want to translate.
Meanwhile, if you want to take a photo of the translated image from the app, click Scan instead of selecting the Instant option.
