The best Steam Deck accessories might not make sense right now, as Valve's newest handheld hasn't even started shipping yet. But when it does and you eventually get your hands on it, here are some of the best accessories on the market that can elevate your Steam Deck experience.

MicroSD Cards

Valve didn't pull punches when it comes to their handheld gaming PC's power. As a result, the price is a little steep, especially for the higher-end models. If you're getting the cheapest 64GB model, you're going to need a bit more storage than that.

Fortunately, the Deck comes with a microSD card port for a quick and easy way to upgrade its storage capacity, without the need to take it apart, as per PC Gamer. 256GB microSDs are your best bet for an easy storage upgrade. Anything less and it wouldn't matter much.

You can start with the Samsung EVO Select Plus 256GB, which is only $30 on Amazon as of this writing. From here, you can easily go up to higher-end, higher-capacity models should your gaming needs increase down the line.

Official Steam Deck Dock

Valve made it clear early on that the Steam Deck, despite its handheld console-like appearance, is still a PC. You can connect it to an external display, attach a mouse and keyboard on it, and run Windows on it like normal. But to do that, you're going to need the official Steam Deck Dock.

According to Kotaku, the dock will allow the Deck to perform basically like a Nintendo Switch by linking it to an external display, like a gaming monitor or a smart TV. To do so, the dock offers DisplayPort and USB-C. But aside from that, there's not a lot of official information on it-not even on the Steam Deck's website.

All that is known for now is the dock will be sold separately, and Valve promises "more information coming soon."

Portable Chargers

You can have all those fancy Steam Deck accessories, but you can never fully use it without a great portable charger. This makes even more sense considering that the handheld's battery usage depends on how heavy the games you play. For instance, CNET reports that playing a game at 60 FPS will give you four hours of battery life, at most.

One of the best chargers to get is the Anker PowerCore Slim 20K, which offers 20,000 mAh and USB-C connectivity. It is priced at $66.99 on Amazon, though it is unavailable at the time of this writing. Fortunately, Amazon isn't the only place where you can get it, alongside other great options.

Headphones/Headsets

The Steam Deck comes with Bluetooth connectivity, so it makes sense to buy an excellent Bluetooth headset to pair with it. You'd do well with the HyperX Cloud II wireless headset ($149.99 on Amazon) if you don't want any compromises with your gaming audio.

With a battery life of up to 30 hours on a single charge, using the HyperX Cloud II with your new Steam Deck won't need you to charge it up every hour or so. Your handheld will run out of battery before your headphones even do-provided they're fully charged. Plus, it comes with 7.1 surround sound, a detachable noise-canceling mic, and memory foam earpads to help keep you comfortable during extended sessions.
