However, it does not always work that way, as they can also bring the real world into the game, giving people a chance to explore the different places, and in this case, a 1:1 scale of Earth's New York City in the game.

Back in early 2020, a gamer called "Minefact," also known via his YouTube channel as "PippenFTS," pioneered the arrival of New York City in the game. Initially, the goal was to recreate his hometown of Frankfurt, Germany, but he faced difficulties along the way.

The creator uses Google Maps' data to construct the real-world cities on a 1:1 scale, and it turned out that the Internet company has more detailed information regarding NYC on its platform.

Minefact, 21, developed a system that will use Google Maps' data to bring cities into "Minecraft" exactly how it is on the map, making it a 1-is-to-1 ratio. He invited different people in his world via the "BuildTheEarth.net" community in Discord, and it grew to a massive network of developers helping to create the city.

More than 2,700 People Work on Minecraft's NYC

According to Futurism, to date, there are already 2,731 people working on "Minecraft's" 1:1 New York City, and it is possible on the game via Minefact's code that adopts the Google Maps data. The collective helps in perfecting the details of the city, from commercial infrastructures residential areas up to the stalls seen on the streets, and many more.

Minecraft and its Global Influence

"Minecraft" is easily one of the renowned games in the world, and it was the previous top-played game by the public for several years. It held the position for a long time. It remains one of the most influential ones available widely, offering content for all ages and personalities, as they can control many aspects of their world.

There are many bizarre "Minecraft" stories, and gamers try to top what they have done in the game already, making it a massively evolving title in its history. One example would be the computer that lives inside "Minecraft," something that a player made for seven months, allowing the world to have its computer knowledge from within.

The world-building game that focuses on a sandbox experience may initially be seen as a kids' game, but it is more than that, especially with what grownups do on its platform. The likes of recreating New York City on a 1:1 scale is a feat unlike any other, and it shows that the game is a massive spectrum of enjoyment and world-building.

Now, the creator and collective's goal is to build the Earth entirely in the game.
