Mercedes-Benz just showcased its Intelligent Park Pilot feature at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles. With that, the company is planning to launch its brand new SUV EV called the EQB, a sedan called EQE, as well as an SUV version of the EQS.
Mercedes-Benz Automated Valet Parking System
According to the story by Electrek, the demonstration included the use of the Intelligent Park Pilot feature showing how the drivers would leave their car to park itself. This is through activating the automated valet through an app.
As explained by the publication, most of the time when people hear the name Mercedes-Benz, they often think of luxury cars due to the company being one of the "global leaders in luxury autos."
While Mercedes-Benz is known for luxury cars, it should be noted that company has been pouring effort into electric vehicle (EV) adaptation.
Mercedes' Partnership with Bosch for Automated Valet System
The new automated valet system was made with the help of Mercedes' partner Bosch. The two companies have been able to make an automatic parking system that makes it possible for cars to be able to park themselves.
As of press time, the feature is only available to the Mercedes EQS but as noted by Electrek, this could also be available for future vehicles as well. The feature works through the Mercedes me App, which is available in the United States.
The Potential Future of Intelligent Parking
With the app, drivers can simply drive into a dedicated automated valet spot and simply let the vehicle park itself. Once everything is in order, green lights will be given and the car will start to park itself.
The partnership of Mercedes with Bosch has resulted in the EQS having the needed technology to easily be compatible with the Bosch Automated Valet system. This system allows the vehicle to enter factilities such as parking garages.

Current System Makes Use of Portable Lidar Sensors
The current system makes use of Portable Lidar sensors thare reportedly used for the demonstration only. The finished product is said to use stereo sound from the vehicle's roof, which creates a clear path for the EV to stay away from harm.
The U.S. will not be the first place in which the Bosch Automated Valet system will be deployed. As of press time, it is already at the Stuttgart Airport in Germany.
Company's Efforts to Invest Heavily Into EVs
Mercedes-Benz even promised that the company would be all-electric y the year 2030. With that, a lot of efforts have been put into research and development up to physical production to help the company "expand global EV adoption" to those fans of the Mercedes brand.
The company also plans to push not just one, but two different autos to the United States this year. The first is the EQB SUV, while the other is the EQE sedan. The company is likewise teasing US production of an SUV version of the EQS.
