Spotify's podcast tech chief Michael Mignano will bid farewell to the company next month.

According to an initial report by The Verge earlier this week, the Swedish podcast platform officially confirmed that Mignano will be leaving the company by the end of June 2022.

The journey of Mignano in Spotify started when he took over the role of a podcast tech chief in 2019. Before this happened, the firm acquired his Anchor app for $150 million.

Following his new assignment as the tech chief, he was assigned to the management of all podcast-related activities on the platform. Being a co-founder of Anchor has helped him efficiently spearhead the podcast tech in the company.

The most notable thing about Mignano is how he introduced the live audio to the streaming site. As such, Spotify has been a hot spot for podcast listeners. At that time, more than four million podcasts existed on the platform.

Spotify says that nearly 85% of the available podcasts in the app came from Anchor, per Android Headlines.

Spotify Podcast Team Sees Lots of Leaving People

In a similar report, the upcoming departure of Mignano is not the first instance that will take place on Spotify. Last April, Spotify's head of studios Courtney Holt and Gimlet's managing director Lydia Polgreen officially stepped down from their roles.

These individuals including Mignano have been key officials that shaped the podcast team to date. Some of the most popular episodes that took place under their management include Joe Rogan and Obama podcasts.

While Spotify is undeniably successful in its venture, it's also marred by various controversies. For example, Rogan's sensational podcast about COVID-19 sparked hate among critics. Many people criticized the episode because it contained a lot of misinformation about the healthcare crisis.
