The European Space Agency's Sentinel-1 satellite almost crashed with Russia's space debris in orbit, and it is with the Cosmos spacecraft that has its parts floating around the Earth. The Sentinel-1 is a satellite that focuses itself on looking at the planet, giving information and details about the many changes that happens to the Earth.

ESA Details How the Sentinel-1 Avoids Crashing with Russian Debris

A dirty environment on Earth is destructive, and so are left behind space debris in space.

The ESA's Sentinel-1 almost met its fate and creator last Monday, after a crucial happening that took place above the heavens. Its ESA Operations detailed how the Sentinel-1, a satellite for the Earth, performed its countermeasures to avoid crashing into the space debris left behind by Russia floating around in space.

The Sentinel-1 was set on a collision course with Russian space debris left behind by Cosmos 1408 last year, and it is known to be an anti-satellite spacecraft by the country.

There was less than a 24-hour warning that gave the ESA a chance to decide on what to do with the upcoming collision against the space debris. Good thing, the actions it took saved the satellite from getting destroyed right then and there.

Collision Avoidance Maneuver by the ESA's Sentinel

The ESA said that there is a team in place for Sentinel-1 to look into such events. The company also practiced and trained for this event, should it happen. It calls its action the Collision Avoidance Maneuver which the Sentinel-1 Control Team and Space Debris Office worked on yesterday.

Russia and its Space Ventures with the World

The Russian government already worked with the world with its space ventures in the past, despite previously being a massive rival to the space race in its early stage. However, once the issue erupted between them and Ukraine, the Roscosmos cut ties with the likes of NASA, ESA, and other private space companies.

Now, there is space debris left in orbit, and the company is not doing anything to clean it up and it may affect those also floating around in space.

One of the significant effects of Russia cutting itself off from the world is the Roscosmos rocket that the United States expect from them, especially as they stopped its delivery to the country. It is a massive move for Russia, especially when it initially said that Roscosmos will continue its space ventures amidst the ongoing crisis.

Russia's actions prove to have a massive effect on the world and the many industries it has now, with a massive precursor to the future events that are yet to unfold. The ESA is elusive and has necessary actions regarding space debris, but it still needs to be removed from the orbit to avoid the destruction of its satellites and spacecraft.
