Aurora Innovation announced via a press release that the company is working with FedEx to bring its autonomous driving service for the many deliveries and transportation needs of the company. It is still in the testing and experimental stage, but it would already feature the capabilities of the technology that Aurora already has.

The autonomous systems of Aurora Innovation are to be fitted on FedEx trucks, and in turn, it will help the commercial haul of the company to deliver to many places or areas that need it. The venture of the two companies came earlier than expected, and it will help bring its cargo linehaul trucking pilot to use for its many deliveries.

FedEx Texas to Have Aurora Innovation's Technology

Aurora Innovation said that there was a pilot program with FedEx and its trucks before, but this time, the company is expanding on bringing more of its technology to them. The expansion would focus on fitting it with more trucks available in the country's needs, especially by the time of the holidays that are coming soon.

Self-Delivery Systems in the Country

Freight and cargo trucks are usually the vehicles that one moves away from as they have a limited field of vision and are hard to drive, meaning that they need special skills to maneuver and control. But what if it is in a fully autonomous mode that drivers do not need to compete with other drivers on the road for a more safe experience?

That is what most companies focus on in the many ventures towards the autonomy of many cars found on roads.

One venture focuses on Waymo and UPS' self-driving trucks that the companies fit in Class 8 trucks, and these are massive vehicles found in public. These autonomous cargo haulers focus on bringing safer and more efficient travel, available to deliver everything that companies need at this time.

It would focus on fewer accidents, especially for fatigued drivers that travel day and night to deliver cargo and many other things to meet their quota or requirements.

However, it is not only for cargo trucks but also smaller vehicles from Cruise and Walmart, focusing more on grocery and market needs that they only need to order via their smartphone applications.

The same venture is coming for Aurora Innovation, particularly with its partnership with FedEx to deliver cargo in the state of Texas, for a more efficient drive that requires no intervention.
