The logo of IKEA is pictured at the Europe's biggest Ikea store in Kungens Kurva, south-west of Stockholm on March 30, 2016. - Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad, who built a global business empire with revolutionary flat-pack furniture and dallied with Nazism in his youth, turned 90 today.

Collab with a Supergroup

The record player was created in partnership with Swedish House Mafia and features a bulky style similar to that of many other IKEA consumer electronics products. Additionally, the collection will include an armchair and a desk, according to the Swedish store.

It is worth noting that this isn't the furniture company's first announcement of a record-playing device. In fact, in 2018, it announced that it would produce a turntable built in partnership with Teenage Engineering the following year.

However, the player did not make it into the final collection, as noted by a Teenage Engineering support page.

Swedish House Mafia is a house music supergroup made up of three members: Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso, who will collaborate with the furniture brand on a 20-piece collection.

The collection will be called"OBEGRNSAD," which translates to "infinite" in Swedish.

This new line is aimed at "those with a limited budget but infinite creativity". It intends to "democratize music production at home" by allowing the many to unleash their passions and creativity," according to IKEA.

IKEA has just shown a few items in the 20-piece collection targeted at music producers and enthusiasts.

The record player will have a built-in preamp, powered through USB, and have a replacement cartridge and needle, according to IKEA's website. IKEA also mentions that the player will operate with its Eneby Bluetooth speaker, but at the same time, it will only work over a wired connection since it doesn't support Bluetooth.

The collection contains three IKEA FRAKTA bags: one for wires, another for a laptop, and lastly for vinyl records, in addition to a number of furniture pieces.

IKEA also revealed additional information about two exciting products - a desk with speaker stands and the OBEGRNSAD record player.

The desk, which has two speaker stands and a pull-out shelf for a midi keyboard, is touted as a fundamental solution for prospective music makers.

Further, if you are a huge fan of vinyl records, the store's record player will undoubtedly land on your wish list. The strong and bulky design of the player strives to express the physicality of music in the collection with a smooth, light, and simple style.
