"Overwatch 2" is set to replace the old game, unlike other releases from gaming companies that have their games running side by side with old and new releases. This information was revealed by the game director via a Reddit discussion, confirming the new setup that will happen to the latest release in a few months.

Aaron Keller, game director from Activision Blizzard, answered questions via the company's "Overwatch Community Development" forum on Reddit, where they addressed several experiences. From the many questions and inquiries from users, one piece of information revealed in this forum is the availability of the original game once the "Overwatch 2" feature comes. 

The game's Early Access label confirmed that the new title would replace the old game from 2016, meaning that come October 4, the "Overwatch" title may cease to exist. The Early Access label talks about the old game that will be inaccessible come the "Overwatch 2's" release date, and it marks an end of an era for the original title.

Why is 'Overwatch 2' Retiring the Original Game?

According to ComicBook Gaming, the game would focus on bringing gamers into one platform, and making the two games available would split its player base. The team and developers' decision focuses on the upcoming experience that "Overwatch 2" aims to bring the gamers to enjoy, especially as it would bring many forthcoming features and new content constantly. 

'Overwatch 2' and Its Upcoming Title

The Xbox and Bethesda Games showcase became the platform where Activision Blizzard revealed the upcoming release date of "Overwatch 2," and it is coming on the first week of October. Here, the gaming company also announced the new pricing of the game, and it is now a "Free-to-Play" game direct from its clients and platforms. 

It is available for selected consoles and platforms, including the Microsoft Windows PC (via Battle.net), Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S and X. 

There were constant delays for "Overwatch 2," but Activision Blizzard intends to deliver on the game for this year, and it is coming for users soon for their experience.

However, the game will have a good and bad side to its release, and it will include the arrival of the new game but would have the original one released last 2016 would cease to exist. 

The coming release would mark this setup in the coming months, and users will have a chance to enjoy the remnants of the old game available for more than three months before its shutdown. While the game director did not officially say that it would shut down, he said that it would be inaccessible for gamers come October.
