Instant messaging app WhatsApp is reportedly working on several new features that will make the experience of its users smoother and better.
WhatsApp is Working on Removing Your Online Status
The Meta-owned messaging app is working on a feature that will hide your online status. The said feature will be available for a future app update, according to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks the newest WhatsApp updates.
The website also shared a screenshot of the upcoming feature of the WhatsApp beta for iOS. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp decided to develop the feature after its users had been requesting it for years.
The feature will be available in the app's Privacy Settings. However, WhatsApp did not reveal when the feature would be available on the app.
According to 9to5Mac, once the feature is available, it allows users to hide the "Online" status. Expect there will be new options like "Everyone," and "Same as Last Seen."

If a user chooses "My Contacts" for "Last Seen" and "Same as Last Seen" for "online," it means that those who are not in your contacts will not be able to see when you're available online.
In 2021, the app introduced a "Hiding the Last Seen" feature that prevents users from knowing if you've read their message or not, but they can still see if you're online.
The upcoming WhatsApp feature will not only prevent users from knowing if you've read their chat, but you can also prevent them from seeing if you're online or not.
Though the website shared the screenshot of the feature during its development of WhatsApp beta for iOS, the messaging app is also planning to roll out the same feature in a future update of WhatsApp beta for Android and Desktop versions.
Increasing Group Chat Participants
In June, XDA Developers reported that WhatsApp has rolled out iMessage-style emoji reactions, increased file sharing limit, and new voice note features.
The messaging app has also increased the group size limit from 256 people to a total of 512 people.
Right after the announcement, the messaging app began rolling out the new limit to users with the latest Android, iOS, and desktop version beta updates.
The feature is compared to Telegram's 200,000 participant limit. However, it still represents a massive improvement over the 256-member limit in group chats, making it difficult for business owners or managers to contact their employees.
The ability to add up to 512 people to a group chat is included in WhatsApp beta version 2.22.12.10 on Android and WhatsApp beta version 22.12.0.70 on iOS. The feature is soon to arrive on the stable version of the messaging app too.
Larger groups come hot on the heels of the messaging app, increasing the file sharing limit to 2GB, which is now widely available on the stable channel. WhatsApp is also working on an edit button that will allow users to change sent messages.
