On Wednesday, July 6, the iPhone maker confirmed that it expanded its commitment to protecting users from highly targeted mercenary spyware.

In this latest anti-security threat effort, Apple said it would make a $10 million grant to enhance its cybersecurity threat research.

But, the so-called Lockdown Mode feature is the most intriguing effort made by Apple. Now, here's how this new security enhancement works.

Apple Lockdown Mode Arrives!

According to CNBC's latest report, the new iPhone Lockdown Mode can protect high-profile users from severe cyberattacks by deactivating some of the smartphone's features.

Apple explained that this would make the device less vulnerable to spyware since hackers will have limited functions to breach.

"Apple makes the most secure mobile devices on the market. Lockdown Mode is a groundbreaking capability that reflects our unwavering commitment to protecting users from even the rarest, most sophisticated attacks," said Apple's Security Engineering and Architecture Head Ivan Krstic via the tech firm's official Newsroom post

But, this will be limited to high-profile users. This means that not everyone can have it. If you are not a politician or someone popular, then you can't use the Lockdown Mode feature.

Although this is the case, Krstic said they will still design more advanced security features for small iPhone users.

How iPhone Lockdown Mode Works

Apple said that the new Lockdown Mode feature would arrive together with the launch of iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura, which is around September.

When it comes to function, this new security enhancement can be quite extreme for regular iPhone owners since it will forcefully deactivate several features.

For example, if the user receives a FaceTime call and hasn't interacted with the call request, their Apple services will be blocked.

Aside from this, web browsing, texting, and other activities will be paused once the Lockdown Mode detects a possible security threat. If you want to know more about it, you can visit this link

Meanwhile, rumors claim that the new Apple iMac Pro will not arrive soon.

On the other hand, Apple's Silicon chip price hike is now happening.
