Interestingly, though, the site reveals that the presence of Sony in the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2022 appears to be limited.

As per a news story by Gematsu, the Tokyo Game Show 2022 has confirmed some of its participants, and it looks like we are seeing both massive and indie publishers in the upcoming event.

In total, its official website confirmed that more than 460 exhibitors are joining the game convention, which as of July 6 already includes around 299 publishers based in Japan, along with 166 gaming firms from other parts of the world.

On top of that, the Tokyo Game Show 2022 also confirmed more than 1,900 exhibition booths. Gematsu notes in its report that this overwhelmingly goes beyond the expectations of its organizers, which was only around 1,500.

Tokyo Game Show 2022's Giant Gaming Publishers

Meanwhile, according to a recent report by Push Square, Tokyo Game Show 2022 has also formally listed the attendance of some renowned gaming publishers.

And these giant game publishers belong to the "General Exhibition" of the upcoming game convention.

Push Square highlights in its new story that massive publishers like Bandai Namco, Capcom, and Konami are joining this year's festivities.

CHIBA, JAPAN - SEPTEMBER 15: Visitors wait in line in front of an advertisement of the Final Fantasy XV video game at the Tokyo Game Show 2016 on September 15, 2016 in Chiba, Japan. The Tokyo Game Show 2016 is held from September 15 to September 18, 2016.

The makers of the phenomenal "Final Fantasy" franchise, no less than Square Enix, are also attending the upcoming in-person gaming event.

SEGA, the Japan-based gaming firm behind classical titles, such as Sonic the Hedgehog, is also part of the "General Exhibition."

Not to mention that massive publishers, including THQ Nordic and Koei Tecmo, are also in attendance.

How About Sony?

However, it is worth noting that the "General Exhibition" list missed out on one of the biggest game publishers in Japan, Sony. In fact, both PlayStation and Sony Interactive Entertainment were nowhere to be seen in the said category.

But it appears that Sony is not entirely ditching Tokyo Game Show 2022, its name was oddly listed under the "Indie Game Corner" category.

So, the giant game publisher seems to be focusing on showcasing its indie games and developers this time.
