Mildura residents took to Twitter to discuss the eerie pink glow that is lighting up their city. The photos shared on the social platform looked like something out of a Stranger Things series, which made locals feel a bit uneasy.

Even ABC reported Sarah Tomlinson took to the social platform to share a photo of the lights, and she also revealed the real reason.

Her tweet reads, "Mildura and surrounds were treated to a spectacular sight tonight when a red light appeared in the sky. Was it aliens? An aurora? No it appears to have been the hydroponic lights from a medicinal cannabis farm reflecting off cloud which somehow the most Mildura answer ever."

It is true that the light came from the company, which they also admitted to. CEO Peter Crock told ABC Mildura-Swan Hill Breakfast that the Aurora marijuanis were the lights on in Cann's Group's new area of their medicinal cannabis facility.

This is because cannabis grows on an extended day length, and the flowering zone is 12 hours light and 12 hours dark. With the new zone coming into use, the company had its lights on.

That night they had the lights on and the blinds hadn't closed yet, which was the reason behind the glow.

He said the water-cooled LED lights operated on different wavelengths than most lights; hence, the pink color. However, the facility's location has traditionally been undisclosed despite the pink glow giving major hints to its location. However, the CEO said they won't say exactly where it is in Mildura.

Why Do Cannabis Needs Lights

Marijuana plants have high temperatures and so, it requires high temperatures to facilitate photosynthesis.

The plants need higher temperatures because they need to be high in light. When the marijuana plant is put into the dark, it needs to access the sun's energy to produce energy.

In fact, the sunlight is symbolic of the whole process of photosynthesis because evolution has designed it to work on an optimal level at the correct temperature and light.

It has been proven that even under the desert conditions, the cannabis plant can grow and produce the bud. Photosynthesis works in the dark because it's an anthocyanin and it doesn't need light.

So, it is obvious that cannabis plants don't require light. But what they do require is the right illumination. Since they need to be high in light and temperature, they need artificial lighting.

It is for these reasons that cannabis plant needs artificial lighting. The composition of the light and the intensity has to be the same as the normal environment in which the cannabis plant is grown.

It is also for this reason that marijuana growers use lamps and other high-intensity lighting systems.
