Amazon said via its Frequently Asked Questions about the Amazon Drive feature that the company is shutting down the service for all. The company confirms this for the world's use of its Cloud Drive features that focus on providing extra space for their devices and avoiding cluttering their storage capacities with items they do not wish to delete.

Navigating to the Amazon Cloud Drive website would talk about the new Photos feature and the new storage focus that will focus on storing captured moments in image or video formats. The company is ending one service and will replace it with a similar feature but have many differences with it.

The Amazon Cloud Drive allows everyone to store any files in its bank, while Photos only allows different formats from pictures and videos. It will cease to exist and prevent access by December 31, 2023.

Amazon Photos is the Company's New Focus

Amazon Photos is the new feature that the e-commerce company is pushing forth, and it is available for both the Windows and Mac platforms for people to keep their captured moments in extra storage space. People only need an Amazon account to access it, with Amazon pushing for its premium subscription starting at $1.99 per month for 100GB.

Amazon's Take on Cloud Photo Storage

Cloud storage for photos and videos was a massive thing then, and many companies already offered their services available to the public, and that includes big names in the industry.

Services including Amazon Photos, Apple's iCloud Photos, Google Photos, and Microsoft OneDrive are some available features for all to take advantage of, from free to premium fees.

Despite Amazon being famous for its e-commerce feature, it still is a technology company that focused on its offers for the web, one being the Amazon Web Services and its cloud features for all. Prime members also get perks for subscribing to the service as before, the company offered unlimited storage for members via its 'Family Vault' feature.

The cloud Photo storage from Amazon is a massive service since then, and now, the company is looking into reinforcing it and making it the main focus of its online services for the world. It may be shutting down one aspect of the company's operations like the online drive storage features, but it is putting its effort into photo storage needs.
