Tesla is reportedly looking for a new supplier regarding its Giga Press, and it focuses on a different manufacturer that would help in making its casting machines for mass-producing electric vehicles. The first reveal of the casting machine is for its use in Cybertruck manufacturing, and while the project is still under development, there is a new one coming.

According to a report by Inside EVs, there is a new plan for Tesla regarding a new Giga Press casting machine that will power its manufacturing and production soon. The reports claim that it will come from Switzerland's Bühler that will bring the new machine for the clean energy company, focusing on an unknown production of its EVs.

There are no sufficient details for this report yet, and it came from a known "industry watcher" who says Inside EVs, and this new information should be taken with a grain of salt. It also did not say that it will drop its previous casting machine from the IDRA, an Italian company that brought two press machines for the Model Y and Cybertruck production.

How Important is a Casting Machine for Tesla?

A casting machine is important for Tesla as it leaves its unibody design for the Giga Press to bring it for their production. According to Teslarati, this new venture would bring different opportunities for the company, but not necessarily a better one as it is not here yet.

Moreover, these rumors focus on insider talks regarding it, without any concrete machines for the company.

Tesla's Manufacturing on Casting Machines

Casting machines or the Giga Press is a device that Tesla uses for its electric vehicle production that would make the body or shell of the clean energy cars arrive to the public. It would go atop its battery cell chassis and drivetrain that mostly go below the car, and it aims to produce thousands of EVs per day in its Gigafactories.

Elon Musk previously said that there are certain advantages that casting machines bring to EV production, and Tesla benefits greatly from it.

On the other hand, Tesla and Musk previously revealed that its casting machines, a.k.a. the Giga Press, were made by an Italian company called IDRA, and they brought the 9,000-ton machine for the company. There are two casting machines from Tesla, and the 9K ton is for the Cybertruck's unibody, while the 6,000 ton is for the Model Y.

Now, it seems that Tesla wants more, and it will explore a different manufacturer, but not necessarily throw away its existing casting machines available on its Gigafactories for the world. Nevertheless, it will add to its existing products that aim to help its deliveries and manufacturing bring more EVs for the world to own.
