"Verdansk" began gaining traction on Twitter within the week of Aug. 1, as an upsurge of gamers and influencers like ModernWarzone begged Activision to resurrect the iconic Call of Duty: Warzone battlefield.

Fans Want Verdansk Back

Gamers are anticipating the debut of Call of Duty Warzone 2.0, a whole new game set to arrive in 2022. But several fans aren't done with the previous game just yet as they request the return of the original map, Verdansk, from Activision.

Digital Trends reported that while it's unknown if Verdansk will be included in the next game, gamers have voiced a desire to see it one final time before Call of Duty: Warzone's life cycle ends.

During the first week of August this year, 2022, Call of Duty: Warzone's Verdansk fans trend their appeal on Twitter, calling for Activision to return their 'most preferred' battlefield. Though after multiple changes and updates, Caldera, the map that succeeded Verdansk in 2021, failed to appeal to gamers.

JGOD, a prominent YouTuber, has also joined the appeal for the return of Verdansk. However, the YouTuber determined that Verdansk's return would be unlikely unless Activision were covertly working on it like they were with Fortune's Keep.

Why Fans Prefer Verdansk

Verdansk was not without defects, yet it was universally chosen over Caldera. Warzone gamers are becoming lost on the Caldera map, according to Tech Times. As a result, some of them dubbed the in-game map as "cheap." In many instances, nostalgia and design may have contributed to Verdansk's popularity.

Perhaps, one major advantage it provided was the vast variety of its areas of interest. Verdansk featured a tightly packed downtown area, a large number of residential buildings, a fairground, a running train, and the popular Storage Town portion. Although Caldera has a more bright color scheme than Verdansk, it lacks variation in terms of design, with less intriguing sections altogether.

Verdansk also has a number of little sections that seemed lived-in and had a narrative to them. This was displayed at the crashed jet in the northwestern field, or the airport, which had a massive hole in the runway descending to an underground region.

All of this contributed to the city's appearance as a living, breathing planet. Caldera has tried similar concepts sometimes, but the map still feels lifeless at some point, with fewer iconic spots.

Because of its architecture, playing on Verdansk required less downtime. It wasn't flawless, but the parts between big POIs were frequently covered with a cover, making the journey more intriguing and simpler.

Many gamers flocked to Twitter to express their desire to play on Verdansk again, claiming it would entice them to return to the game. There was also a "Bring Verdansk back (WarZone)" petition on change.org, with the founders stating that they are part of the players who want Verdansk back.
