The Google Iowa data center explosion badly injured three individuals near the area. This incident happened on Monday, Aug. 8.

Iowa City Police Department (ICPD) officials explained that the victims are electricians who were working on a substation near the Google facility. 

They added that these individuals were hit by an electrical explosion. After the incident was identified, first responders were dispatched at around 11:59 a.m. 

Jim Wood, the Council Bluffs fire department assistant chief, said that there was a sort of electrical issue in the area.

According to the New York Post's latest report, one of the victims was evacuated using a helicopter because he was seriously burned.

On the other hand, the officials were able to take the two injured individuals via a local hospital ambulance. Wood said that they were able to speak with the three victims despite their conditions.

"We are aware of an electrical incident that took place yesterday at Google's data center in Council Bluffs, Iowa, injuring three people on site who are being treated and in stable condition," said Devon Smiley, a Google spokesperson. 

The Google representative added that they are working closely with the local authorities since their top priority is the safety of all workers. 

She further explained that they are investigating the incident thoroughly and will provide any assistance needed by the victims.  

Is It Connected To Google Outage? 

Some individuals may think that the latest incident in the Google Iowa data center is connected to the recent outages on Google services, such as Gmail and other apps. 

However, the tech giant firm clarified that the reason behind the system problems is a software update and not the facility accident. 

The Search Engine Journal reported that many Google users experienced the widespread also on Monday.

They said that they were met with error messages saying that the server encountered an error and could not complete their request.
