Facebook Messenger's default E2E (end-to-end) encryption feature is now being tested by Meta, with an estimated 2023 global launch.

As of writing, the popular chat application already has end-to-end encryption. However, users still need to activate it manually.
Some individuals disregard it since it consumes their time. But, for others, E2E encryption is pretty essential.
Because of its benefits, especially keeping the privacy of the sender and the receiver, many Facebook users are asking for E2E encryption to be a default feature.
Now, this will soon come true. Here are the details that Meta has shared so far.
Facebook Messenger Default E2E Encryption To Arrive
According to The Verge's latest report, Messenger's E2E encryption feature will soon be a default security feature. This means it will soon be activated automatically.

Once it is completely rolled out on the chat platform, Facebook will no longer be able to see the content sent by users.
If FB can't access your chats, this also means that third parties, as well as law enforcers, will also be prevented from snooping on your digital conversations.
"We're working hard to protect your personal messages and calls with end-to-end encryption by default on Messenger and Instagram," said Meta via its official Newsroom announcement post.
Meta's Other Messenger Enhancements
Meta announced that it would soon release some Messenger updates in the next few weeks. These include the E2E encrypted calls to the app's Calls Tab.
The giant tech firm explained that those who are using the popular Facebook Ray-Ban smart glasses could send end-to-end encrypted hands-free messages.
Aside from these, Meta also confirmed that it would soon remove the vanishing mode on Messenger. This is reasonable since the vanishing mode serves as the E2E encryption feature of the messaging application.
If a default version arrives, then the vanishing mode will be useless. As of writing, Meta hasn't confirmed the exact launch date of the default E2E encryption.
But, 2023 is the targeted year for the security feature's release.
Previously, Meta was criticized because of its Facebook TikTok-like enhancements.
On the other hand, the Facebook multiple account options are now being tested by Meta.
