In today's fast-paced world, time management has become one of the skills that every person needs to develop to be successful. Unfortunately, it would seem that the same technology that has made all of us more aware of the importance of time, has also made us less propense to actually use it wisely.

When combined with the fact that we now pay more attention to reaching a work-life balance than ever before, things can get even trickier. Despite most of us having a calendar app easily accessible on our smartphones, computers, and other devices... How much do we truly benefit from them? Well, it depends on what calendar app you are using.

Effective Time Management Made Easy

The American philosopher and poet Henry David Thoreau once said that "It's not enough to be busy; so are the ants. The question is: what are we busy about?". Today, this quote rings even more true as bringing true value to how we use our "busy" time is a matter of unprecedented relevance.

Berkeley classmates John Li and Michael Zhao set out to solve the issue of effective time management when they launched Vimcal back in 2020. Today, the startup's platform is not satisfied with being widely considered the fastest and most effective calendar app but continues to strive for greatness.

As a calendar meant to be the king in a remote world, it offers a simple yet beautiful design full of powerful features. From sharing availability in a personal manner to unmatched compatibility with other apps, Vimcal has managed to stand out of the crowd over the past years. The startup has also launched a calendar app specifically designed for executive assistants, as well as expanded its products to Microsoft Outlook and IOs.

Changing How You Think Of Time

Unfortunately, having the tools to manage time more effectively is often not enough to change our old ways. Vimcal is aware of this and has recently launched a new feature to help change how we think of time: Vimcal Rewind.

The feature, which is reminiscent of Spotify Wrapped, will provide Vimcal users with interesting stats and insights on how they use time. In addition to being easily shareable, fun, and engaging, Vimcal rewind is sure to offer a new perspective on productivity and time management. In the words of co-founder and CEO John Li:

"The goal of Vimcal Rewind is to help people viscerally realize how much time they're spending in meetings. It can be shocking to see such big numbers - some CEOs spent the equivalent of seven full weeks in 2022 sitting in Zoom calls - generating this awareness is the first step in helping people get their time back."

The feature is already available to new and existing mobile users and will provide stats on data like:

  • The total days and hours users spent in meetings

  • The total number of people users met and the top five people users met with

  • Users' busiest and quietest months

  • The percentage of meetings that were internal vs. external

  • The percentage of meetings that were recurring

With 2022 coming to a close and people all over the world readying their resolutions for the upcoming year, the feature has the potential to be quite impactful. After all, time is one of the only resources that we can never get back.
