Actress Emma Watson is proving to have just as prolific career as her Harry Potter costar Daniel Radcliffe.

She's appeared in Noah and The Perks of Being A Wallflower, and who can forget her cameo in This Is The End? Now she's adding another notch to her belt in the form of a Disney Princess.

Watson herself just announced on Facebook that she is starring as Belle in Disney's live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. She also confirmed that the movie will be a musical, using the songs from the animated classic. Bill Condon of Gods and Monsters, Dreamgirls and (yes, it's sad but true) Twilight: Breaking Dawn is directing the flick for the Mouse House.

Disney has been on a tear lately, adapting its most beloved animated films into live-action versions. Last year's Maleficent was based on Sleeping Beauty and this March sees Kenneth Brannagh's Cinderella. 2016 will also bring Jon Favreau's live-action Jungle Book starring Bill Murray.

Beauty and the Beast has no release date yet announced, and Watson is the first cast member to be announced. It's unknown if the Beast character will be accomplished via practical makeup effects or CGI.
