Afton Elaine Burton and her fiancé, 80-year-old convicted mass murderer Charles Manson, secured a marriage license last year to be wed inside a visiting room at the California State Prison in Corcoran, but it appears that the union will no longer be able to push through.

The license of the couple was drafted in November last year and will expire on Thursday, Feb. 5. This poses a problem because the weddings of inmates can only take place on weekends during visiting hours.

Since the couple remains unwed and no inmate wedding takes place on weekdays, it means that they already missed their chance to get married, Jeffrey Callison, a spokesman for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said on Monday.

The 26-year-old Burton, who also goes by the nickname Star, claims that she loves Manson. She has, in fact, left her home in Illinois and, over the past nine years, lived near the Central California prison. Burton has websites that claim of Manson's innocence and the marriage license the couple got suggests that Burton has intentions to use Manson's last name.

Although Burton has opted not to respond to recent requests for her comments on her relationship with Manson, she told the Associated Press shortly after the license was released that the marriage was imminent. Manson, however, notably said once that the plans are trash and that he and Burton were "just playing that for public consumption."

Should the couple still want to marry, they may have to wait again. The couple needs to register for a new Kings County marriage license if they want the wedding to happen.

Manson's son, Matthew Roberts, claims that Manson is desperate to have a son with Burton and is willing to go to great lengths just to get her pregnant.

"I understand that somehow he hopes to smuggle his sperm out of the prison," Roberts saitechtimesanalytics analytics

d. "Part of the whole thing with him marrying Star is that he would love to have kids and he was really waiting for someone to come along and provide that."

In 1971, Manson was found guilty of conspiracy in the murders of seven individuals, including actress Sharon Tate, who was pregnant at the time of the killing. The murders were carried out by the members of his family of killers dubbed the Manson Family.
