Samsung Galaxy 5 owners on AT&T can whoop in glee as the network operator is rolling out the much-awaited update for the smartphone. However, before you break into a jig (we hate to be the wet blanket), the update is Android 4.4.4 KitKat and not Android 5.0 Lollipop.

To add insult to injury, the update weighs 487 MB, which means Galaxy S5 owners on AT&T will have to contend with lots of bloatware.

Galaxy S5 owners of the AT&T variant will benefit from software version "KTU84P.G900AUCU2AOA1" which updates the device from Android 4.4.2 to the Android 4.4.4 version of KitKat.

"AT&T released a software update for the Samsung Galaxy S 5 (SM-G900A) on February 3, 2015. The update is available to customers to download via Firmware Over The Air (FOTA)," notes the network operator.

The software update brings several enhancements and bug fixes users' way along with voice over LTE or VoLTE i.e. HD Voice capability.

Some of the features and apps Samsung Galaxy S5 owners on AT&T will get are as follows:

- Miscellaneous improvements, bug fixes and security updates

- HD Voice or VoLTE capability

- Plenty of AT&T service add-ons such as ATT Mail, Uber, AT&T Live and Remote Support.

The Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 is an over-the-air (OTA) update and should hit your device soon. To check if you have received the update navigate to Settings > System > About Device > Software Update > Check for Updates. Once you see the available update click "OK" and continue. Ensure that you have at least 50 percent battery charge and sufficient memory before you download the Android 4.4.4. KitKat update.

With Verizon already pushing out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its Galaxy S5 users, AT&T users can only hope that the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is the precursor to the much-awaited Lollipop.
