It's too late to take advantage of Motorola's $140 off on its products that are priced at $499 or higher -- registration for that deal has long ended. The good news is, the promotion moved into its next phase and there's still time to save a significant slice of cash on a new Nexus 6 or a Moto 360 smartwatch or any other Motorola product that has been on wishlists for far too long.

The original deal offers $50 off a pre-tax purchase of on Motorola products priced at $249.99, or $140 off of merchandise that is at least $499.99 before taxes. The first phase of the promo, for those who received promo codes will end Valentine's Day, 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

The next phase of the promotion, which expires on Feb. 17, 11:00 a.m. CT, requires no registration. There's also no need for a promo code. The second deal slices $35 off any pre-tax purchase of Motorola merchandise priced at $249.99, and $100 off on any product that is at least $499.99 before taxes.

"Whether you eat all the caramels first, insist on dark chocolate only or pick through candy hearts for your favorites, how you enjoy Valentine's Day is your choice. This year, we're choosing to spread the love with a sweet deal," says Motorola in a blog post promoting the deals.

As sweet as all of that sounds, there are exclusions to the Motorola's lover's day promotion:

Nexus 6, Moto X (2nd Gen) on Republic Wireless, and Moto Care Accident Protection are excluded, as are any items currently on sale. You can't combine offers or promotions. Limit 2 devices among Moto X (2nd Gen), Moto G (2nd Gen), Moto G 4G LTE (1st Gen.), Moto E, and Moto 360.

Motorola's Valentine's Day promotion is the only bit of sugary news the company has announced recently. The Moto Maxx and Moto E are moving through the queue of Motorola products in line for Android Lollipop.

"Some sweet news for Moto Maxx and Moto E today: As we promised, we are continuing to expand Android 5.0, Lollipop to two more devices! We have begun rolling out Lollipop for Moto Maxx with soak testing in Brazil and Mexico and for Moto E in Brazil and India," says Motorola in another blog post.

The load testing, or "soak testing," forwards the slow and steady roll out of Google's latest Android operating system onto Motorola devices. Android Lollipop has already been unwrapped and rolled out on to the Moto X Pure Edition, the 2014 Moto X and several versions of the Moto G.
