South Korean electronics company LG has recently been making a splash in the smartphone arena. While its share of the market is nowhere near the levels held by Apple and Samsung, LG Android-based smartphones have found their niche among specific users worldwide.

LG smartphones have unique features such as the Knock Code, which allows users to lightly knock on their screens in user-defined patterns to unlock their smartphones. LG has also started using the latest version of Android, Android 5.0 Lollipop, in the devices that it manufactures.

LG's four most recent smartphone models, namely the G3, G2, G Pro 2 and G Flex each have their own pros and cons. Customers who are looking to specifically buy an LG phone should have these four models as their options, and comparing the smartphones may help in deciding which one to buy.

Size

The G3 measures 5.76 x 2.94 x 0.35 inches and weighs 5.26 oz, which makes it bigger and heavier compared to the G2, which measures 5.45 x 2.79 x 0.35 inches and weighs 5.04 oz. The G Pro 2, tagged as the larger version of the G2, measures 6.22 x 3.22 x 0.33 inches and weighs 6.07 oz. The G Flex, however, is the longest of the options, measuring 6.32 x 3.21 x 0.31 inches and weighing 6.24 oz. The G Flex, however, features a unique curved design that follows the contour of its face.

Screen size and display

The G3, the latest flagship smartphone of the company features a 5.5-inch, 1440 x 2560 display. It has a bigger screen than its predecessor, as the G2 has a 5.2-inch, 1080 x 1920 pixel display. The G Pro 2 has a larger 5.9-inch, 1080 x 1920 display, but the one with the largest screen is the G Flex, which has a 6.0-inch, 720 x 1080 display. In terms of pixel density, however, the G3 boasts the best-looking screen.

Camera

All four options feature similar 13MP rear-facing cameras and 2.1MP front-facing cameras. Both the G3 and G2, however, feature the company's optical image stabilization feature, but this has been improved in the G3 compared to the G2.

Hardware

Embedded inside the G3 is a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM. This makes the phone the most powerful of the bunch, as the both the G2 and the G Flex have a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM, while the G Pro 2 has the same quad-core processor but with 3GB of RAM.

Memory

The G3 features 32GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot for expandable memory of up to 128GB, a feature that fixes the G2's lack of storage expansion capabilities in some markets in addition to its 32GB internal memory. The problem, however, is also seen in the G Flex, which has no expandable memory options in addition to its 32GB internal memory. The G Pro 2, however, has an expandable memory option of up to 64GB in addition to its internal memory of also 32GB.

It is all up to the user's preferences and budget when it comes to which one of the LG smartphones is the best one to buy. Of course, the latest flagship device of the company, the LG G3, is the most receommended one.
