Mortal Kombat X is getting the mobile game treatment, and it will look familiar to anyone who played the mobile version of NetherRealm Studios' previous fighter, Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Like Injustice, the mobile version of Mortal Kombat X is a simplified fighting game, where players choose their character and battle it out against opponents with various swipes and taps. In Injustice, players could improve their fighters through a card system. Accomplishing certain feats in the mobile game would unlock new costumes for characters in the console version.

The mobile version of Mortal Kombat X looks to follow a very similar formula, and why not? Injustice mobile was a big hit for NetherRealm. It was so successful, in fact, that NetherRealm partnered with the WWE to create a similar style game starring WWE SuperStars as superheroes. That game, WWE Immortals, is free to download and available now.

The graphics for Mortal Kombat X mobile are surprisingly well done and the game even features some of the same gory fatalities seen in the console version. Not many other details are known about the game at this time, but expect the title to be released for iOS and Android devices in April. You can check out a trailer for the game below.
