Samsung has rolled out additional Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note Edge to users anticipating the operating system update in two international regions.

While U.S. smartphone owners wait for the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update on their Samsung smartphones, consumers in two large international markets are being treated to the new operating system.

Owners of carrier-unlocked variants of the Samsung Galaxy S4 in France can now upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop on their smartphones. Carrier-specific versions have not yet received the upgrade, however.

Large international markets such as Russia and India have already received the Galaxy S4 update, while none of the U.S. carriers have released it yet for their customers. Galaxy S5 users in the United States, however, have already seen their devices updated on three of the four major carriers - Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile - with only AT&T lagging on updating last year's Samsung flagship smartphone.

In addition, the Android Lollipop 5.0 update is now available to Galaxy Note Edge owners in India. The region is only the second major territory to receive the update, which comes almost a month after the update was released to Note Edge owners in Australia. The long gap since the Australian update led to speculation that the update for Samsung's curved display phablet was experiencing issues which caused a delay in the rollout, so the push to India bodes well for further releases to come shortly.
