It's Friday the 13th - a day entirely dedicated to bad luck and superstition...so, it makes sense that an entire horror movie franchise was built up around the holiday.
While the original creators could never have imagined where the series would go, Friday the 13th is one of the greatest horror franchises ever created, and Jason Voorhees is one of the best villains to ever hit the silver screen.
Considering that this is only the second of three cursed Fridays in 2015, it seemed appropriate to rank the classic horror films (sure, some aren't quite as classic as others, but they're still fun to watch) - so, without further adieu, here's our Top 10 Friday the 13th films:
10. Friday the 13th, Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)
Jason murdering his way through New York City -awesome. Jason spending the first hour on a boat and roughly three minutes in Times Square...not so awesome.
9. Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993)
Not only was it the second 'final' Friday the 13th, but it added a bunch of overly-stupid, demonic lore to the franchise that has (thankfully) been ignored ever since.
8. Jason X (2002)
Sure, it's Friday the 13th in space - except it's not, because Friday isn't even in the title! Oh well - at the very least, it's got some of the best kills in the series.
7. Friday the 13th, Part V: A New Beginning (1985)
Part V definitely tried some new things, and it's commendable for it - but nobody cares about a copycat killer! People want Jason!
6. Friday the 13th, Part VII: New Blood (1988)
After spending three movies with the same protagonist, it was time for something new (hence the title), so why not give Jason someone who can fight back?
5. Friday the 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives (1986)
It opens in both the dumbest way possible and the coolest way possible, which is a feat on its own, but Part VI brought Jason back...as a true zombie!
4. Friday the 13th, Part II (1981)
It was the first time that the adult Jason made his big screen appearance - even if it was basically a rehash of most of the first movie.
3. Freddy vs. Jason (2003)
If 'guilty pleasure' was in the dictionary, there would be picture of Freddy vs. Jason right next to it. It may have taken a decade to get made, but it was worth it!
2. Friday the 13th, Part III (1982)
Fun fact: Jason's iconic mask didn't debut until the third entry in the franchise, and Part III basically cemented Friday the 13th as we know it.
