The much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones are reportedly going to be launched in the United States on April 11.

The information was revealed to mobile phone website Phone Arena by one of its readers, who said that he was an employee of one of the major wireless carriers in the United States. To protect the source's identity, Phone Arena did not disclose which company he is working for.

According to Phone Arena's source, he was told by a sales representative of Samsung that operates within the Greater Midwest region that the company's Galaxy S6 smartphone will have a launch date of April 11 in the United States. As for the launch of the Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone, Phone Arena's source revealed that the premium model will be released to the market in a limited capacity, which is similar to how the Galaxy Note Edge was launched.

According to Samsung, there are already 20 million pre-orders for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge combined, with the Galaxy S6 Edge only making up 5 million of the total amount of pre-orders.

Official pricing for the Galaxy S6 Edge in the U.S. has not been released. Leaked pricing in foreign markets will somehow give U.S. consumers a good idea of the price range. In Qatar the Galaxy S6 Edge will be priced between $851 and $1,043 for the 32GB model thru 128GB Variant. In Bahrain, it will be a bit cheaper and carry a sticker price of $846 and $1034. Meanwhile in Kuwait, converted price will be from $833 to around $1,019.

As for the Galaxy S6, prices in Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait will range between $699 and $714 for the 32GB version. The $64GB naturally comes pricier at the $790 range. The dual-SIM variant will go for at least $806 in Kuwait and as much as $824 in Qatar.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge pricing information have not been officially released so it is best to treat the above information with a grain of salt.

The launch date of April 11 would be the same for all four of the major carriers in the United States, namely AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile. According to the source of Phone Arena, the sales representatives of Samsung are currently taking trips to visit retail locations to demonstrate the Galaxy S6 smartphone to store management.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will have an octa-core Exynos 7420 chip working with 3GB RAM. It sports a 5.1-inch AMOLED screen with pixel density of 577ppi. It has a 16-MP main camera claimed to work well in low-light conditions due to its f/1.9 apperture. In front, the S6 Edge has a 5-MP clicker for nice selfies. The main  difference between these latest smartphones will be the Edge's  curved glass on the side of its display and a bigger battery with 2600mAh capacity.

AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile, along with U.S. Cellular, have already uploaded pre-order registration pages in their websites for customers who are looking to be among the first to own a Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge in the country.

The purpose of the pre-order registration pages is to create a list of customers who wish to be alerted right away once the pre-order details for the new Samsung flagship smartphones have been released.

Among the carriers, Verizon was the first one to announce pre-order details for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. AT&T, however, is raffling off a Samsung Gear S device every day for registrants, while T-Mobile has a raffle for weekly prizes and a grand prize of a $3,500 entry into the Samsung ecosystem of devices.

"Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S6 & S6 edge w/ Verizon 4G LTE & 5.1" Quad HD Super AMOLED display will begin on 4/1," Verizon revealed on Twitter.

Registering at the pre-order pages for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in any of the major United States wireless carriers does not require the customer to commit to making a purchase.
