Popular hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar's much-anticipated new album "To Pimp a Butterfly" is now available on iTunes and Spotify - a week earlier than anticipated.

Originally slated for release on March 23, Lamar pulled a fast one on eager fans by releasing the album unexpectedly on Sunday, March 15, instead.

Around 11:30 p.m., "To Pimp A Butterfly" - which is Lamar's follow-up to the 2012 album "good kid, m.A.A.d. city" - became available for buying on the iTunes store. The clean version at that.

Half an hour later, the explicit variant of the album went up on iTunes as well. On early Monday morning, Lamar's latest album was also available on Spotify.

Prior to the release of "To Pimp A Butterfly," Lamar also took to Twitter to tease the album's release via cryptic messages.

Finally, Lamar shared the link for download.

Last week, Lamar shared the impending album's cover art on Instagram.

While fans may be wondering why the album has been released early, Lamar's representative Anthony Tiffith, the head of Top Dawg Entertainment, took to Twitter to lambast Interscope Records for the album's early release error.

However, the Interscope Records revealed to The Fader that the release was intentional and not an error.

Here's the complete track list:

1. "Wesley's Theory" (Feat. George Clinton & Thundercat)

2. "For Free? (Interlude)"
