All four major U.S. carriers, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, and T-Mobile, have created preorder registration pages for customers interested in the new HTC One M9 smartphone. In addition, HTC is promising some big news on the smartphone on March 18.

As the four major carriers gear up for the highly anticipated release of the HTC One M9 smartphone, HTC announced this morning it has some big news coming for U.S. customers. "Wednesday, March 18th. The HTC One M9 is the company's brand new flagship smartphone, and will compete directly with the iPhone 6 and Samsung's new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The 32 GB HTC One M9 sports a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD Super LCD3 display with a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch (ppi). It's powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, an Adreno 430 GPU (graphics processing unit), and has 3 GB of RAM. The One M9 will ship with the latest version of Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, which lack microSD expansion slots, the HTC One M9 supports up to 128 GB microSD cards. It also sports HTC BoomSound speakers with Dolby Audio 3 Surround Sound. Its large, nonremovable 2,840 mAh battery promises up to 25 hours of talk time and 391 hours of standby time. The One M9 also ships with HTC Sense 7, which includes a new location aware homescreen.
