Although Jessica Lange has been a staple on Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story for its first four seasons, the award-winning actress has officially announced that she will not be returning for the series' fifth season.

In her place, some newcomers will grace the halls of American Horror Story Hotel. Leading the cast of fresh faces will be Matt Bomer, who previously worked with Murphy on the series The Normal Heart, as well as pop singer Lady Gaga in her first regular TV acting gig.

Fans would love to see the two new cast members hook up on screen in the creepy new hotel setting, but Bomer has remained mum on story details involving their characters' possible romance on the series.

"I can't confirm or deny that there might be a love interest," Bomer told the audience at the AHS PaleyFest panel in Los Angeles.

Lange also used the PaleyFest panel to confirm once and for all that she was done with her stint on AHS where she won Emmy Awards, GLAAD Media Awards, Golden Globes, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

"We've had a great run here. I have absolutely loved doing these four characters that I've had the opportunity to play. In all the madness, I've loved the writers, my actors, Ryan and the whole, I mean, insanity of it, shooting here, shooting in New Orleans, the stories, everything," she said.

The actress did share, however, that her work on AHS was some of the best in her entire career. In four seasons she has played a ghost, a nun, a witch, and went out with a bang as Elsa Mars in Freak Show.

During filming, she recalled an incident that happened: "I was walking down the street in New Orleans in raggedy jeans and a ripped T-shirt and it's like 150 degrees. I walked past this group of young boys who are sitting on the steps, and as I walked past, they said, 'Holy sh-tballs, the Supreme!' In my 40 years of acting, it's never going to get better."

The Supreme Jessica Lange will most certainly be missed. We can only hope the fresh faces who will be joining the AHS vets in Hotel will be able to fill the void created by her absence.
