The HTC One M9+, previously known as the One M9 Plus and the Hima Ultra, is reportedly going to be released by the end of March or early April.

The mobile device, which had been the subject of leaked images and benchmark results, has been highly anticipated.

The leak regarding the release of the One M9+ was publicized through the Twitter account of @upleaks, which is a reputable source for such information.

"Confirmed:Hima_Ultra will be going to the market as HTC One M9+ (not Plus), and I was wrong it will be available in EMEA too..." @upleaks tweeted, stating that the device will also be available in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

When asked when the One M9+ will be launched, @upleaks replied that the release of the phablet will be either at the end of the first quarter or early in the second quarter.

The rumored specifications of the device state that it could be powered by either a MediaTek MT6795 processor or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, with the MediaTek processor presumably for versions to be released in China and the Snapdragon processor for versions that will be sold internationally.

However, in the replies to the @upleaks tweets, it was confirmed that the One M9+ for the EMEA regions will also have a MediaTek processor and not the Snapdragon one.

According to @upleaks, the information regarding the One M9+ was obtained through a friend that apparently holds a prototype of the phablet. Lending the prototype to other people without gaining permission from HTC is prohibited though, which is why he still has not gotten his hands on the phablet.

The One M9+ is said to be featuring a 5.5-inch quad HD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, as confirmed by a leaked image on Twitter from @evleaks. In addition, the leaked image also showed that the phablet will be having a physical home button, which is not found in the One M9.

The physical home button is being speculated as a possible fingerprint scanner for the One M9+, which would function similarly to the biometrics functions of smartphones of other companies such as Apple and Samsung.

Benchmark results show the One M9+, packing the 64-bit, octa-core MediaTek processor, also has 3GB of RAM and onboard storage of 32GB. The phablet will also be featuring a 20MP rear-facing camera with capabilities to record 4K videos. The front-facing camera, on the other hand, will be a 12MP one.
